Original 1st Doctor times on eBay - December 2016

Looking around on eBay I came across this gorgeous little item.

I do love the styling of the 1960s and the graphics on the box.

Dalek Erazaboard Set 1965 by Bell Toys
Here we have an original 1960's (1965) Bell Toys Dalek Erazaboard Set

Thought to be only 3 or 4 left in existence, this is an item that most of us will not see for sale in our life time. All others that are known about are in private collections not for sale.

Here we bring on the open market one for sale, the piece is a nice display item with the box measuring 490mm x 240mm.

This is complete and comes with

6 x Erazboards
1 x Pack of Chalks
1 x Pack of Wax Crayons
All original 1965 Inner box, lid and bottom box

Considering this is from 1965 it is in great condition, only two parts of the lid have come away - please check pictures - other than that it is complete with all Erazaboards complete.

Original 1st Doctor item on eBay -
September 2015

I spotted this super item on eBay this month. It hails from the glory days of Dalekmania and is now super rare to find, especially in this complete form.

The listing has some great accompanying photos.

Chad Valley Doctor Who Give-a-Show Projector set
One of the hardest items of Doctor Who merchandise to get hold of.

Produced in 1965. It is NOT immaculate but it is in very good condition, particularly when you consider it's a child's toy that's now 50 years old.

The box lid is not tatty at all, but very good. Some minor scuffing and one upright (the corner bit) has been repaired. Very little creasing. Impressive!

The base of the box is less good: some warping and discolouration, and the uprights on the corners have all been repaired.

Projector is in good condition. I don't know if it still works; as it's just a glorified torch, it should be easy enough to get going.

The tray for the slides and projector is very good.

THE SLIDES ARE COMPLETE. Each strip tells a story. They're good, but they're not mint: some creasing and wear to the card that holds the transparencies.

You will be pleased to hear that the Daleks have perfected a machine called the Earthman Detector, and that it malfunctions because a cat gets in the way. Also, the Zomites are intelligent insects from the planet Skaro, which attack Dr Who and his chums.

The stories, alas, are execrable.

Please note: this has been described in full and in good faith. Buyers of high value items can sometimes be disappointed that their items are not in mint condition. It is in the condition described: no better, no worse.

DALEKMANIA! Marx toy Daleks on eBay

When I report on items I find on eBay I limit myself to production used costumes and props, or behind the scenes stuff like scripts.

But I came across these beautiful Dalek toys dating from mid 1960s, each with their original boxes and meticulously photographed, so I thought it good reference material post. Especially for the boxes, which are often lost.

This batch of Daleks I found are all the battery operated variety.
Enjoy.

I imagine this black example is a bit unusual, as personally I have only seen the silver versions.

Marx 1965 Black Dalek
SOLD FOR £37.55

This second example is silver, with a black bumper.

Marx 1965 Silver and Black Dalek

This version is also silver, but with a blue bumper.

Marx 1965 Silver and Blue Dalek
SOLD FOR £76.99

Original 1st Doctor item on eBay -
July 2015

Have you ever wanted to own an original piece of a Dalek from the 1960s?

Well, your pryers seem to have been answered!

Original Shawcraft Dalek Gunbox Corner
SOLD FOR £250.01

Many years ago I purchased an original Dalek Skirt panel from the chaps that later become “The Prop Gallery" which came with a couple of pieces of original Shawcraft Dalek, they were having Mike Tucker from the Model Unit restore one of the original daleks and this was one of a hand full of pieces that they received back from restoration.

This is from the original dalek that people refer to as Dalek-One, later on in the 1970’s the BBC refurbished the prop and added a layer of wood to the gunbox, you can see the layers from the original 1960’s build to the 1970’s refurbishment.

This is from my personal collection and not every day you have the option of buying a piece of a Dalek.

Someone is selling of their script collection on eBay this month, and here are the times relating to the First Doctor.

Myth Makers
Episode 3 Camera script
SOLD FOR £57.70

Listed is a original BBC Doctor Who Script once owned by the late producer John Nathan Turner.

The Camera script is entitled Myth Makers, Death of a Spy, episode three, and features 1st Doctor William Hartnell (1965). The item is in very good order, although shows slight pin rust, fading, is fragile, so take this into consideration.

The item was kept by John in a filing cabinet for many years until his sad passing, then sold by his friend TV presenter Stephen Cranford who provided a signed letter of provenance which accompanies this great collector's item whoever wins this.

Original 1st Doctor items on eBay -
May 2015

This is a very nice item I spotted a month back on eBay.

I would sound a word of caution - this is NOT the original artwork, but a recreation of it by the original artist.

Doctor Who 1967 Annual Original Cover Artwork by Walt Howarth
WITHDRAWN

Doctor Who 1967 Annual Cover Original Artwork by Walt Howarth - Mint Art
Great piece of original full colour artwork by the undoubted legend of TV art of the sixties and seventies - Walt Howarth

This is a recreation of the cover to the 1967 Dr Who annual by the original artist featuring a lovely full face picture of Hartnell plus nice action scene.

With the original lost Walt was commissioned to do one off recreations of his covers some years before he died. I personally think this is a far better composition than the first annual cover.

This is not a print - this is the full colour original painted artwork

The art itself is in mint condition having never been framed or displayed with no fading whatsoever.
